During our time at Casa Guatemala, a non-profit primary school in the Río Dulce National Park in Guatemala, we have encountered many dedicated students who understand the importance of education and want to continue studying after finishing primary school. Their parents also want them to continue studying, but all too often they live in villages without a secondary school and do not have the means to pay for schooling and boarding in the closest town, usually hours away. That’s where we come in.
Our scholarship program covers their schooling and living expenses so that even students coming from the most dire situations can continue studying. For many of them, they are the first in their family to attend secondary school. After graduating, they are able to access opportunities otherwise closed to them, helping them pull themselves and their families out of the cycle poverty.
You can help our Next Step Scholars by making a one time donation to the scholarship fund, or committing to a monthly donation to become a sponsor of one of these students.
